DCRFU President's 200 Club

Dear Rugby Family Member,

Following the disappointment of not being able to compete in the County Championship competitions during season 2021-22 for financial reasons, the Durham County RFU Board of Directors have decided to start fundraising initiatives to ensure there is no repeat this season or in coming seasons.

The difficult decision was taken last season to withdraw from the Senior Men’s and Women’s competitions with all available funds focused on the Male U20s. The U20s commenced training and games before final competition notific

ations from the RFU were made available. This was the reason they competed and made a Plate semi-final appearance against Northumberland.

The RFU’s late decisions regarding competition details provided little time to raise the required funds last season. This season RFU funding for the Senior Men’s, Senior Women’s and Male U20s amounts to £6,000 split between the three teams to play a minimum of three games each.

Without additional money to support the teams, fulfilment of fixtures is not possible. Durham County RFU pride themselves upon making County Championship rugby a rewarding experience for all of those involved. Without adequate funding, we cannot field the teams, provide the experience and fly the flag for Durham.

Please enter the 200 Club and support representative rugby within Durh

am County in any way that you can.
