John Simpson, Houghton RUFC & Durham County RFU

Saturday 26th November, marks a poignant day for Houghton RUFC with the unveiling of a bench in the memory of Chairman John Simpson.

However, is stewardship of Houghton RUFC, his chairmanship of the County Governance Committee along with his position on the Board of Directors' provided a highly professional approach to grassroots rugby. This along with his empathy for game, coupled with a strong sense of duty will be long remembered with fondness.

I am delighted that the unveiling will coincide with two senior men's teams playing at home on the Dairy Lane pitches. A 'proper' rugby day for a 'proper' rugby man.
