The biggest Schools Union County Cup to date

Writer: Durham County RFU Admin Durham County RFU Admin

Durham County RFU Schools Union run a Schools County Cup Event each year, offering schools across the County a chance to play rugby and challenge themselves by playing other schools.

Each year, the event has grown in success with the number of schools participating increasing. This year, 2018-2019 season saw the most participants to date, with an impressive 34 schools taking part... The biggest SU County Cup to date!

With 34 schools taking part, over 30 events took place over the County.

Over 300 matches played and over 600 pupils participating in Rugby, what a great outcome for Rugby in Durham County.

These cup events also hosted the School Union YMO scheme pupils, with individuals from different areas of Durham County traveling to cup events to officiate the matches. With the help and experience they gained from the events, we now have over 100 pupils qualified as Level 1 or Level 2 referees.

Well done to everyone who helped make this happen... the RFU CRC's, School Teachers, Schools Union Committee and most importantly the pupils who played and officiated.

Thanks for an amazing result this year, lets see if we can keep it up for 2019-2020 season.
