1st Representative game of the Season - Durham County U18 Boy's vs Yorkshire RFU match report

Nail biting finish for County u18’s

After a rigorous selection process the counties finest u18 players took to the field against old rivals Yorkshire at Billingham this weekend.

In what is traditionally a physical battle the lads were primed and raring to go after their training session during the week.

During a hotly contested game of end to end rugby Yorkshire came out the victors by only one unconverted try winning 24-19

Dan Finney Lead Coach for Durham said:

“Sundays game was one that we all wished had gone ten minutes longer. There was a lot of nerves prior to kick off which slowed our start to the game. However, once we realised that we could match Yorkshire physically, our confidence grew and the lads let loose with a great solo score from Scott Rochester.

The second half saw an arm wrestle where both teams scored points and created opportunities but just as we got into full flow and started breaking down the Yorkshire defence, the full time whistle blew leaving the players and coaches disappointed but with lots of excitement for what the rest of the season holds. Congratulations to Yorkshire and good luck for the rest of the County season.”

Our next game sees us travel to Whitley Bay to take on Northumberland at home.
