On Friday 4th October, Ryton RFC organised a 3rdteam development game and played against Consett RFC.

The game was followed by a live band and street food.

Organised by one of Ryton’s resident players, the game was a success and gave the Club bar some excellent Friday night traffic.

Many players who haven’t played Rugby in a long time, joined the 3rd team on Friday night. This event helped to re-engage lapsed players and worked perfectly with Durham County’s new #Backinthegame drive.

The idea of #Backinthegame is to help lapsed players to get involved with rugby again, this can be through coaching, refereeing or in this case, playing. For more information on #Backinthegame please head to the website page.

Durham County RFU are pleased to say they supported funding for the event, and that there is also an opportunity for other Clubs to be involved.

For further information on this, or to submit documentation for funding please email dcrfu@rfu.com
