Durham County Pioneers of Young Referee Programme

Durham County RFU have recently featured in the England Rugby Touchline update for pioneering the way with our YMO Programme.

The Schools Union YMO programme is proudly sponsored by Vic Young (South Shields) Ltd.

A glimpse of the article below;

"No fewer than 250 Young Match Officials and 25 schools have been involved in the programme. Eleven have received their Vic Young Young Match Official caps for refereeing more than five games and a number are well on their way to gaining a cap this season. The Sport England target for Nov 2018 – Nov 2019 was 84 boys and an aspirational target of 44 girls, a total of 128. To date the actual figures are 208, with 40 girls and 168 boys. This brings total YMOs over the life of the programme to in excess of 250. "
