Durham County announce February Challenge Cup ticket winners as St Johns School YMO's

St Johns School YMO's have been named Durham County’s Februarys ‘Story of the Month’ through the Newcastle 2019 European Club Rugby Finals initiative

St Johns School has been nominated for their team of Young Match Officials. These YMO’s have been taking every opportunity to officiate rugby games as part of their development and training; participating in over 10 officiating events that various levels.

At St Johns school alone, they have 11 children who have worked towards and earned their Level 1 and 7 children who have earned their Level 2 in rugby refereeing. They have all participated and officiated at a vast amount of games since the start of the academic year.

The YMO’s at St Johns have been an integral part of running 5 County schools festivals and have been praised from students, teachers and parents at these events.

The school now have 5 students that have officiated the required amount of games to receive their Durham County YMO Cap and are working under the tutelage of YMO mentors from the Durham Referees Society.

In all of this success, the YMO programme at St Johns School has helped to form links with the wider community, including Durham University.

Well done to all involved with the YMO programme at St Johns, especially the YMO's for all their hard work!
